What is a Spark?
One of the major focal points of my work with children is to support them on their search for their Spark.
Everyone has at least one talent... one interest... one thing that will make them feel alive.
This is called a Spark.
When we know our students' Sparks, we are able to encourage them to direct their energy towards positive activities. According to the Search Institute, helping youth discover and embrace their Spark is one of the best ways to direct their energy towards positive activities. Young people who know and embrace their Spark grow happier and make healthier life choices. Students learn more when motivated, and nothing motivates someone more than focusing on what they already enjoy doing; it only makes sense to encourage them to include their Spark on their school projects.
Students who feel valued are more willing to help others in their own school community and beyond.
