York House School Sparks Mural - 2016
This project was designed to engage students from grades 10 to 12, celebrating their personalities, Sparks and passions. The final design was created by one of the students. I asked her to create something without borders, as I wanted to try to make more of a jigsaw puzzle with the pieces and we had a lovely repair crew who was able to cut wood in curved lines. The principal asked for it to be somehow inspired by Emily Carr, and so the design also kept this in mind.
Each student chose a piece of the puzzle and worked into it their passions and Sparks. There were students who focused on dance, others on sports, the arts, music, nature, poetry and so on. The final result was a beautiful quilt of all their interests combined.
The final mural was approximately 11' X 11'.
I hope you enjoy the slideshow below.
